A 2008 artwork depicting a mask, not a mask that has been worn. That distinction is the whole difference between ordinary goods and restricted ethnological material — say it on the invoice.
What the gallery's page does not tell you. Leaving Nigeria: no export permit needed. On arrival in the United States this is not obviously inside Chapter 97 — check the classification before you ship, because craft and decorative objects pay the duty rate of their material, and since 24 July 2026 it would also carry the 12.5% forced-labour duty on Nigeria goods. At 43cm on its longest side this travels flat in a portfolio or a cabin bag, which is the cheapest and safest way to move it. At $2,166 it sits in the middle of what Lagos galleries publish online.
